Tasmanian Irrigation’s Dam Safety Engineer Josh Clark is proud to be recognised as one of Australia’s young water industry leaders.

Josh recently represented Tasmania in the prestigious Australian Water Association’s (AWA) Young Water Professional of the Year award at the Ozwater’25 gala dinner in Adelaide. This followed being announced as the Tasmanian Young Water Professional of the Year in 2024.

Although Josh didn’t take out the national award, he learned a great deal from the other State finalists and water industry professionals.

From graduate engineer to currently overseeing the operations, upgrades, surveillance, regulatory reporting, and financial management of a portfolio of 22 dams on behalf of Tasmanian Irrigation, Josh is passionate about creating sustainable and innovative water solutions.

“It was an incredible honour to represent Tasmania and to be part of the national AWA awards,” Josh said.

“Water is such a precious resource and industry organisations and events, such as the AWA and OzWater, provide a platform for collaboration and cross pollination of ideas to ensure the ongoing improvement and management of water resources across the country.

“I love every day of my job at Tasmanian Irrigation, working with dedicated professionals to ensure every drop of water delivers economic benefits to our farmers and our State.”

Tasmanian Irrigation Chief Executive Officer Mike Sylvester congratulated Josh on his accomplishments.

“Tasmanian Irrigation is extremely proud of Josh’s achievements – not only in the AWA awards but every day as he diligently works to underpin the safety and compliance of our dam assets,” Mike said.

“His leadership at TI and across Australia’s water sector enables our industry to achieve new benchmarks of engineering excellence, as well as inspiring others to consider careers in engineering and irrigation.”

Josh is also a professional member of Engineers Australia, a Young Professional and State Representative for the Australian National Committee on Large Dams (ANCOLD), and a member of the committee tasked with revising the ANCOLD Guidelines on Dam Safety Management.
